A PCB used to control any of Will Cogley's DIY animatronic eye mechanism designs. Features a Mini DIN-8 port for  a controller, and a USB-C port for programming. Can optionally be used as a regular Raspberry Pi Pico by soldering headers to the relevant pins. Based on the open source MAIGIFU board by suzan_works and licensed under the MIT License.

Why is this better than just a Raspberry Pi Pico?

The β1.2 Eye Mechanism Controller board has additional features which make it more suitable for driving servos and operating the eye mechanism. It features a high-power servo power supply, stabilised against power fluctuations and protected from the microcontroller, meaning this can be powered and operate from a fast charging USB.

What do I need to use this with?

The board will come pre-programmed, but if you would like to upload your own code you will need a good quality USBC cable which can transfer data as well as power. The board can be powered through the USBC port, ideally one which can supply a current of 3A (most "fast chargers").

When can I expect to receive the board?

We're still finalising the design, quality control and figuring out distribution, but we expect to start shipping in Q2 of 2025.

This is a development board intended for experienced makers and engineers. It may require some technical knowledge to use effectively. By purchasing, you acknowledge the need for appropriate skills in electronics and DIY projects.
